Apparently not their liberalism—a liberalism that in most cases has one foot planted in politics and the other in theology. As the politically-liberal blogosphere has followed in the footsteps of its older-media kin by granting the traditional obligatory coverage to the Easter holiday season, I’ve noticed that the positioning of these two feet has remained generally consistent with what I’ve come to expect from from the likes of Time and Newsweek down through the years, with one key difference: where the older media tried to at least feign a kind of critical “distance” from the subject of religion under the premise of journalistic objectivity, today’s bloggers do not appear so constrained. Their postmodernist impressment of Christian themes into the service of a liberal political agenda bears a striking resemblance to the nearly-identical modernist practice of 100 years ago. I was raised in a Christian home but, in my teens and early twenties, I became very skeptical of Christian claims, the good book, and especially of God Himself. Looking back, I cannot say I really doubted the existence of God, although I think I made that claim. No, as I reflect on it, I did believe that He was there, but I did not like Him very much, or at least not the God I thought He was at the time. I can honestly say I did not know who I was rejecting, because I really did not know Him as I do now. I did not see Him as a Father, but as a judge; not as a friend, but as a powerful bully.

The season of our celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ is upon us. With is come the march of liberal theologians on the main stream media claiming the Bible is myth and fable. Also, Jewish filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici makes, what seems like, his annual rounds promoting some new “discovery.” My first acquaintance with him was in 2007 after his documentary, The Lost Tomb of Jesus had aired on the History Channel. Dear reader I will forgo my usual snarky take on the latest issues for Evangelicals to talk about something involving my personal testimony–pornography–and there will be precious little snarkiness when it comes to the seriousness of porn addiction.
